Wrong DefaultMedia

Privacy

Nothing, until you fill in a form.

Effective September 20, 2026. Written to be short and plain, because that is the point.

What this site collects
Nothing while you read it. wrongdefaultmedia.com has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies and no third-party scripts. Browsing the index, filtering it and following a link out record nothing about you. Two forms do collect what you type into them, and they are the whole of it.
The two forms
Submit a link asks for the link itself, and optionally its title, author and publication, why it belongs, and your name and email. Pitch us asks for your name, email, the argument and the evidence behind it, and anything else you want to add. Both are hosted here rather than by a form service. Nothing reaches us unless you fill one in and send it.
Who handles it
Two companies process form data on our instructions and for no purpose of their own. Cloudflare hosts the site and stores each submission and pitch, so that nothing is lost if the email leg fails. Postmark sends us the notification email, which carries what you submitted. We do not sell, rent or trade what you send, use it to advertise to you, or use it to train a model. Each of those companies operates under its own terms, which we do not control and do not restate here.
How long it is kept
Twelve months. The record expires on its own at that point, because the expiry is set on the record itself rather than left to someone remembering, and after that it is gone whether or not anyone asks. You can have it deleted sooner: write to [email protected] and it goes. The notification email that lands in our inbox is correspondence, kept the same way as any other email you send us.
Server logs
Cloudflare keeps ordinary request records, including IP address, browser and time, as part of serving the site and protecting it from abuse. That is infrastructure logging, it is not read as an audience, and nothing here builds a profile from it.
Links out
Links to other sites, including the newsletter and its email provider, are governed by their own privacy policies.
The newsletter
Subscribing happens on The Wrong Default, not here. What that collects and why is set out in its own policy at thewrongdefault.com/privacy. In short: your email address is used to send you the newsletter, it is never sold, rented or traded, and you can unsubscribe from the link at the bottom of every edition.
Email you send us
If you write to us, that message and your address are kept as correspondence and used to reply to you. Nothing more.
Asking what is held
Ask what information is held about you, or ask to have it corrected or deleted, at [email protected].
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version is posted here with a new effective date.
